Our mission is to use film to foster understanding and appreciation of the diversity of the human experience, and create community among the viewers in the restored historic Circle Cinema.

The Circle Cinema Foundation works to fulfill this mission with several programs:

Films open to the public include:
Current documentaries, independent and foreign films
Film premieres of locally produced and directed films
Film festivals
Films co-sponsored by Tulsa non-profit organizations for their audiences
Films created by filmmaking classes – high school and college
Events which include film, speakers, and audience involvement

Circle Cinema and Tulsa Public Schools participates together in Journeys in Film, founded in 2003 to promote international education, cultural understanding, diversity learning, media literacy and civic engagement among middle-school students. The program combines the viewing of foreign language films with innovative lesson plans and facilitated, interactive discussion that creates an immersive, high-impact experience for students.

The Tulsa project includes 18 teachers in 8 schools with at total of 1,800 students participating. Students see the films THE CUP (Tibet/Bhutan), THE WAY HOME (Korea), CHILDREN OF HEAVEN (Iran), and WHALE RIDER (New Zealand).
