(Tulsa, Okla.) June 28, 2011 – The year 1928 marked the birth of two movements being celebrated on Tuesday, July 12th — Cinema in Tulsa and Hair Fashion for the World. Circle Cinema opened that year as Tulsa’s first “suburban” movie theatre and that same year hair fashion icon, Vidal Sassoon, was born.
Circle Cinema is celebrating these 83rd Birthdays in a unique and historic way by hosting an evening of Fashion and Film. Attendees will experience a visual walk through of every decade of Fashion that has passed since the Circle’s opening, beginning with the 1920s. The live fashion show and reception will take place in the Circle gallery, located at 12 South Lewis in Tulsa, and will be followed by the screening of the new documentary – Vidal Sassoon, The Movie – The story of how one man changed the world with a pair of scissors.
Proceeds from the evening support the “FULL CIRCLE” Campaign, raising funds to restore the original theatre lobby and complete two state-of-the-art theatres in the space where the original theatre auditorium was once located. Tickets for the event are $35 per person. Sponsorships are available.
Vintage clothing is provided by Silver Screen Vintage and local collectors, modern attire by Posh Style, model support from John Casablancas, and hair stylists from Miss Jackson’s Penthouse Salon and Ihloff Salon and Day Spa.
About Circle Cinema
Circle Cinema opened in July 1928 as the Circle Theatre and now holds the distinction of being Tulsa’s last remaining historic movie theatre.
