“African Circles” – Tulsa Girls Art School

TGAS Art Show: Art Across Borders
Art opening  at 5pm, Thursday, July 11th

The exhibition will showcase a visual collaboration project between the advanced students at TGAS, and the girls of the The Janada L. Batchelor Foundation for Children (JBFC) school in Tanzania, Africa. TGAS students started a picture on a piece of canvas, wrote a note about themselves on the back and included their picture — sort of like an artistic pen pal letter. Tanzanian students then responded with letters of their own and additions to the drawings. The show will also display a series of unique ‘circle’ paintings, by the beginner and intermediate students of TGAS, to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Circle Cinema.
