Three generations of women share the same apartment.  Nina, twice married and divorced, has two daughters. Both are attractive young women. The fourth member of the household is grandmother, a mute invalid who requires constant attention.  Busy with her job and her family, Nina scarcely has time for herself until a new suitor appears unexpectedly at the museum where she works as a guide.  Both daughters, Lida and Natalia, have men in their lives as well.  Each tries in her own way to cope with the troubles they bring.  The film’s climax is a dinner celebrating grandmother’s birthday.  Both of Nina’s former husband and her new love interest are present. A chaotic evening ensues.   Embarrassing secrets are revealed followed by touching reconciliations.  Even grandmother has a secret.
